Actually, a lot: there is no more powerful weapon against authoritarianism than humor, when it comes from the deepest indignation, such as satire. Furthermore, satire is most dangerous when it is disguised as fantasy literature. Therefore, advance proselytism: look for your books. Or if you want, you can watch the movie version of The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy on Disney, and Netflix has a very smart, wacky, and funny series based on Adams' work: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. CHINA
  • STARIA, an online sci-fi bookshop located in Guangzhou, has two microblog posts on Towel Day:
The first one, posted at 9:45 Beijing (01:45 UTC). They seem to post one sci-fi quote each day, and today, while introducing Towel Day to fans, they quoted the famous statement about towels of the Guide, "... any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through and still knows where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with."
The second one, posted at 16:55 Beijing (08:45 UTC). It's a postcard from a parallel universe, like they are sharing recently, written by Arthur Dent to Zaphod Beeblebrox. Although Arthur is always nagging, Marvin in the parallel world does not seem to be paranoid. I'll try to put here the text of the postcard in English in the style of the Guide: The big headed robot on your ship is too noisy. I mean, everything is noisy: the shipboard computer, tea-making machine, electronic doors, and yourself, but that big headed robot is the noisiest. Where on earth did it collect so many bad jokes? Yes, I mean the big headed robot called Marvin. You have to get rid of it somewhere, or you'll expect all of us end up mad.
(thank you Alan, for the info and the translation!)

At midnight, while the universe is being gently destroyed, troubadour Kiero plays pangalactic hits accompanied by a harp. Their modest plan is to get rid of the Universe before that emerging local vogon Putin starts pressing buttons that should not be pressed. ”Kiusa se on pienikin kiusa”, as they say in Finland.
